The Boston-area Holiday Pop-up Bars, Lounges to Visit in 2023



Boston-area bars are bringing out the Christmas trees, menorahs and hot toddies for the holidays.

  • Here’s where to find a festive, boozy spot to escape the cold.

Boston

The Revere Hotel downtown hosts Festive Fridays throughout December, with holiday-themed cocktails and a DJ 7pm-10pm.

  • Every week has a new theme, including a holiday cocktail class on Dec. 15 and a spiked hot chocolate bar Dec. 22.

Liberty Hotel’s lobby bar near the Charles/MGH station is decked out with holiday trees hanging upside down from the ceiling.

  • Drink of choice: Liberty sangria with berry and citrus-infused red and white wine ($21).

Santa’s Cantina at Loco Fenway includes a holiday cocktail menu in December, as well as a holiday prix fix lunch menu every Wednesday through Friday between now and Dec. 29.

Sippin’ Santa at Shore Leavea South End holiday pop-up, opened Nov. 21 and runs through New Year’s Day.

  • They’re open seven days a week starting at 5pm, except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
  • Drink of choice: Ho ho hot buttered rum ($17). Includes rum, spiced honey butter, vanilla and passionfruit.

  • Drink of choice: Hot chocolate with two types of chocolate, house-made whipped cream and chocolate chips. Shot of vanilla vodka’s optional.

Snowport, the Seaport’s holiday market, has four holiday-themed bars, including “Jingle Bar” and “The Drizzy Dreidel.”

  • Drink of choice: Mulled cider.

The Bowery in Dorchester brought back its decked-out yurts for the winter.

  • The yurts seat up to eight people for two-hour reservations.
  • Drink of choice: “Build me up buttercup” ($14). Includes brown butter-infused bourbon, winter spiced syrup, orange bitters and torched cinnamon.
  • Cost: $100-$200 to reserve, excluding the food and beverage minimums.
  • Pro tip: When booking, select a party size of “1” per yurt reserved.

The Lodge at Publico kicks off Dec. 8, with some ski lodge vibes and wintry cocktails.

  • The Lodge will be open Thursdays through Saturdays from 4pm to midnight or later.
  • Drink of choice: “Catch me if you can” ($15) with Tito’s vodka, Irish cream, coffee liqueur and gingerbread.

Cambridge

Miracle Pop-up Bar at the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel includes a 6-foot-tall Santa and festive cocktails.

Noir’s Maccabee Barthe Boston area’s first Hanukkah pop-up bar, is running out of the Charles Hotel in Harvard Square this year.

  • The pop-up runs Monday through Saturday starting at 4pm until at least midnight. It’s closed Sundays except on Dec. 10 for Hanukkah.
  • Drink of choice: The “latka sour” ($16) with apple brandy, potato, lemon, egg white, havana and hyde bitters. There’s also a non-alcoholic version, “potato potato” ($8).
