A new Aberdeen cocktail bar located on Union Street has celebrated its opening weekend.
Staff at Moka Bar and Kitchen, which can be found at 150 Union Street, welcomed customers as the venue opened its doors on Friday, March 3.
The new outlet, which occupies the space of the former Jack’s Grill and Boho Bar premises, is aiming to bring an ‘exciting new concept’ to the Granite City.
This will involve selling handcrafted cocktails paired with food made from locally sourced produce in ‘relaxed and friendly surroundings.’
In the build-up to the opening, the bar has been sharing pictures from their cocktail menu; these include their ‘Candy Jacuzzi’ bowl, which comes complete with gummy bears and is described as ‘perfect for sharing’ and the pink ‘Penelope’ which is topped with marshmallows.
Jack’s Grill, the premises former restaurant, closed its doors in January, citing the cost of energy prices.
In a heartfelt message, its owners said: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce the closure of Jack’s Grill with immediate effect. The spiralling cost of stock and energy prices, along with the staffing issues that followed multiple lock-downs, have left us in a position where it is no longer viable to continue.
We would like to thank all of our loyal customers, who have shown us such great support over the years. A new operator is set to take over the building, and we are sure that you will show them, and all local businesses, the same level of support that you have been kind enough to show us over the past six years.”
