The mint julep is the official drink of the Kentucky Derby, but the classic combo of bourbon, mint, and a little sugar served over crushed ice is refreshing enough to enjoy all summer long. - Fresh mint leaves
- 1 teaspoon simple syrup or superfine sugar
- 2 ounces bourbon
- Crushed ice
- Muddle 12 to 20 mint leaves with simple syrup or sugar in a silver julep cup, then pour in bourbon.
- Fill the glass with crushed ice, and garnish with more mint leaves.
