Mexican Restaurant Announces Closing, Leaving Hole in the Heart of Edmond

EDMOND — Alvarado’s Mexican Restaurant, 2805 S. Broadway, a fixture in dining for the City of Edmond for nearly three decades announced Tuesday that it will close its doors for good on June 17.

The announcement was made via a statement posted to the restaurant’s Facebook page thanking customers and staff for their years of loyalty.

“As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end and our time has come here at Alvarado’s in Edmond. One thing I’ve learned in the last 3 years is that life is short and to spend as much time with the ones you love,” the statement read in part.

The post had garnered over 70 comments by midday Thursday, with many mentioning the owner Carlos Alvarado by name and thanking him for his kindness through the years.

The restaurant’s Edmond location was opened by Carlos and his brother Alfonso as an extension of their father’s Oklahoma City restaurant in 1996. It quickly became a beloved spot among the community for family dinners, birthdays, and more.

Now, residents are left to visit and make final memories before the doors close for the final time.
