In the breakfast world, there are three camps: Team pancake, team waffle, and team French toast. If you’re partial to thick, fluffy cinnamon bread, McDonald’s newest test item is here to support you.
This morning, Mickey D’s announced select restaurants are testing a French toast breakfast sandwich. It’s made with warm brioche French toast bun wrapped around a fried egg, melted American cheese, sausage AND Applewood smoked bacon. The whole thing is then brushed with sweet syrup. Lord knows what the nutritional content of this thing is, but damn it if it doesn’t sound delicious.
McDonald’s breakfast sandwich line-up includes several fan favorites — so much so that all-day breakfast become a thing — like the Egg McMuffin, Egg White Delight McMuffin, biscuit sandwiches, and of course, McGriddles. McGriddles, which have been on menus since 2003, are essentially the same as these French toast delights but with pancakes as a bun and only one kind of meat inside.
To try the new breakfast sandwich, you’ll have to be in Minnesota, at least for now. McDonald’s is currently testing the item at more than 200 restaurants across the state, though as we’ve seen before, if it’s popular, it may be added to more stores soon.
