MANILA — The Makati Shangri-La, Manila hotel celebrates World Food Day this year by introducing new salad creations by Italian chef Nicola Conti.
Celebrated every October 16, World Food Day aims to raise awareness behind poverty and global hunger issues.
With the theme “Growing Together,” the hotel is focusing on using ethically sourced ingredients for its F&B requirements. The hotel has partnered with local farms, such as Gourmet Farms, in sourcing high-quality produce.
Year to date, the hotel has already increased its demand for locally sourced produce by 15 percent and is expecting to further increase this percentage in the succeeding years.
Chef Canuti’s salads for World Food Day, which are available at the Circles Café salad station until October 21 only, are visually vibrant. He tastefully tempers his dressings so that the vegetables’ flavors shine through.
