Set your DVRs, as some North Jersey bakeries will be showcased on the Food Network at 10:30 p.m. Sept. 24.
Lyndhurst Pastry Shop and Taskin Bakery in Paterson will be featured on the final episode of comedian Tom Papa’s show “Baked.” The program focuses on Papa, a New Jersey native, travelling the country to visit different cities’ best bakeries. Lyndhurst Bake Shop and Taskin Bakery will be showcased on the episode titled “New Jersey: Home Sweet Home.”
On the episode, Papa will help make Lyndhurst Pastry Shop’s rum cake – a treat Papa’s grandparents used to order from the pastry shop when he was a kid. It was for this nostalgic reason Papa specifically requested to film at the Lyndhurst Pastry Shop, says owner Jerry Lanzerotti.
“The key was, it’s not a competition show,” Lanzerotti joked. “I don’t want none of that competition stuff.”.
Taskin Bakery in Paterson will also be featured on the episode, specifically its Turkish dough layered with butter and cheese and its Portuguese puff pastries with cinnamon-spiked custard.
“Baked” premiers Monday, Sept. 3 at 10 p.m., and features Papa travelling the country (to New York, Detroit, Boston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Cleveland, Paterson and Lynhurst) to learn about that city’s best bakeries. Episodes are 30 minutes each, and two air every Monday at 10 and 10:30 p.m.
