Here Are 3 New Bars and Restaurants Opening in Milwaukee in December

Openings of new bars and restaurants are slowing down in Milwaukee in December, after November saw nearly a dozen new spots hit the scene.

But a few new places plan to open before the end of the year, including Milwaukee’s newest downtown steakhouse celebrating its opening weekend.

Here are three new bars and restaurants opening in Milwaukee in December.

Menu items Winter Cranberry Mule, Fireside Bourbon Ball and Ketel One Espresso Martini made with Nomad cold brew as pictured at Experts Only Apres Bar in Milwaukee, Wis. on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023.

Experts Only

Now, 782 N. Jefferson St.

This new Cathedral Square bar technically opened its doors to the public Nov. 30, but that’s close enough to include in December’s list.

Experts Only is an après-ski (“after skiing”) themed bar by the Caravan Hospitality Group, which also owns Nomad World Pub and SportClub.

The new spot has winter-themed drinks such as a nitro espresso martini and hot drinks. It serves comfort foods including mac and cheese, ribs, wings, charcuterie boards and more.

The new spot shares an address with recently opened Barrel Burrito Co., also operated by Caravan Hospitality Group.

Buffalo Wild Wings Go East Side

Dec. 6, 2900 N. Oakland Ave.

Buffalo Wild Wings Go is planning to bring the national chain’s wings to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee neighborhood. The chain’s “go” locations are focused on take-out and delivery; there will be no onsite dining at the Oakland Avenue location.

The signage at the new spot has been on the building, below The Eastsider apartments, for most of 2023. It’s scheduled to finally open Dec. 6.

New downtown Milwaukee restaurant Carbon Steak, 725 N. Milwaukee St., has set its opening weekend for Dec. 8-9. Here's a look at one of the space's renderings.

Carbon Steak

Dec. 8, 725 N. Milwaukee St.

Milwaukee’s newest steakhouse is planning to bring “bold, luxurious and sensual ambiance” downtown.

Opening in the former Garden banquet space, Carbon Steak is being developed by Balbir Singh. His Volante Group hospitality company also owns Maharaja, 1550 N. Farwell Ave.

The steakhouse will have menu items including Japanese wagyu beef, roasted seafood towers, and seasonal vegetarian and vegan dishes.

It also will have a curated wine collection, specialty cocktails and non-alcoholic options.
