Ventura’s Mexican Restaurant is a local institution and a Toledo favorite.
Ask anyone in town, and they’ll talk about the margaritas (which, by the way, are only $2.75 on Margarita Tuesdays). But there are also lots of cheap eats to go with those drinks that fall within our $5 per person budget.
Mexi-Skins – an appetizer of three potato skins stuffed with chorizo, refried beans, cheese, and bacon – cost only $4.99. A vegetarian alternative filled with olives, tomatoes, onions, and peppers is only $4.69.
For $4.19, a chicken enchilada comes smothered in cheese. Vegetarian enchiladas full of broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots are $4.49.
A few lighter options are the black bean soup ($3.09 for a cup, $3.59 for a bowl) or the Guacamole Salad with lettuce, tortilla chips, avocado, tomato, and onion for $4.89.
Each day of the week offers a different lunch special, though you can order any of them on any day. The chicken tostada offers a platter full of food – the star of the dish plus refried beans and a side plate of cheese-topped tostaditas – for $4.99. Another special includes two beef hard shell tacos with rice and beans, also for $4.99.
So venture over to Ventura’s, where you’ll find friendly service and lots of frugal food options. And, of course, those famous margaritas.
