Cadbury World’s new Cadbury Chocolate Quest ride gets opening date

Cadbury World in Birmingham is putting the finishing touches to its new ride, Cadbury Chocolate Quest, before it opens for Easter weekend on 29 March.

The indoor trackless ride features nine Cadbury cars, which the team at Cadbury World are now dusting and polishing ahead of the launch. Each of the 23 cocoa pods have been polished, as have the ride’s Buttons monkeys.

Additionally, staff are making sure that the liquid chocolate featured at the end of the ride is flowing correctly.

On the new ride, guests will board a Cadbury car and embark on an immersive quest to collect the ingredients needed to make a bar of Dairy Milk, using lasers to zap them up. After riding, they will collect a Cadbury treat.

To offer an interactive and sensory ride experience, Cadbury World has utilised 3D themed sets and virtual screens, as well as sounds, lights, smells and heat.

“We are almost ready for action here at Cadbury World and the whole team is so excited to see all the hard work that has gone into this massive project come to life,” said Tim Waters, regional director of the Birmingham cluster at Merlin Entertainments.

“From polishing the cars and testing the flowing liquid chocolate, the team have been working round the clock to prepare the ride in time to welcome guests when it launches… we can’t wait to see Cadbury Chocolate Quest in action as we really feel it is a ride that will be enjoyed by everyone.”

Interactive and sensory ride experience

Cadbury Chocolate Quest is part of a wider £8 million investment from Merlin for Cadbury World after the company started operating the visitor attraction in January 2023.

The new attraction replaces the 27-year-old Cadabra ride. More than 14 million guests have taken a tour on Cadabra since its opening at Cadbury World.

Alterface, a leader in interactive technology, provided the new ride’s interactive elements. ETF Ride Systems, a leading ride designer and manufacturer, created the ride vehicles.

1050 Studio, creators of media-based attractions for theme parks and public spaces around the world, did the new ride’s media.
